Are you, or someone you know, afraid of the dark? Here’s something that may help conquer that fear: Making Hand Shadow Animals.

This is an easy way to entertain children, friends and even yourself. If you practice a lot you will be able to create just about any critter you can think of, but you must start somewhere. So, turn off the lights, grab a flashlight, shine it on a wall, and let’s bring some hand-shaped critters to life with the help of these inspiring videos!

Making hand shadow animals probably originated a long time ago, on the walls of caves lit by ancient fires. Through time, more animals, people and characters were included, until the late 19th century in Europe, when Félicien Trewey popularized the technique of making shadow silhouettes. The name of this fun technique is Shadowgraphy.
